Love the Flowers, Hate the Pollen!

Spring is in the air!

I love the smell of Spring flowers, but sadly my allergies do not.
I still enjoy the outdoors as much as possible
(with a runny nose and itchy eyes to show for it later).
I have found that sunglasses come in handy to protect your eyes from the attacking pollen.

A few things that I have noticed through the years:
- the only thing that relieves my sinus headache during the worst of the allergy season is Advil Cold & Sinus (sometimes can be dangerous to take when operating heavy machinery, you could fall asleep while driving).
- I only take Zyrtec when it is an emergency (hate putting that stuff in my body).
- the very best thing that I have found is to sip a cup of "Allergy Remedy Tea" (that's what I call it).

"Allergy Remedy Tea" is made with the dried plant parts of: Thyme, Bergamot (commonly called 'Bee Balm'),Alfalfa and Mint.  I use 2 heaping tbsp to 1 quart water.  Bring water to boil and simmer 15 minutes.  For Fall allergy season, I add dried Goldenrod to the mix (that is my worst enemy during Fall allergy season.  Drinking the dried parts helps your body become immune to it).  *Do not drink like regular tea!  Thyme drunk fast and in abundance can upset your stomach, so take time to just sip it.  You can drink it hot or cold, with honey surgar or nothing at all (but honey from your area is also one of the best things for your cold & sinus problems.  After all, it is made from the flowers that you are allergic to during allergy season).

I was actually almost fully cured from my seasonal allergies, until I started traveling during the Spring to South Africa.  I had studied how, if you use the "Allergy Remedy Tea" consistantly during the Spring and Fall seasons for 3 consecutive years, your allergies will become very minimal to non-existant.

Now if only I could get rid of my allergic reaction to poison ivy!
A farmer from my church says that if you eat a piece of poison ivy during early Spring (before the oils form on the leaves) you will not get it.  Sorry, folks, but I am not that brave!  I am the queen of poison ivy and probably would have a swollen face and throat from trying it.
Do you have any great natural remedies?
